Staci Bridwell was featured on episode 7 of Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition. As with prior participants, the program chronicled her year-long weight loss journey under the supervision of trainer and transformation specialist Chris Powell.
The 32-year-old Haslet, Texas mother of two children is the wife of a man who had a stroke a few weeks after she met him. She works full time as a mobile radiology technician. She said she was overweight as a teenager to the point that she could not fit in at the school desks and she dropped out of school. By seventh grad she weighed more than 200 pounds
Her starting weight was 456 pounds; her height is 5’9″ meaning her BMI (Body Mass Index) was approximately 67 (a BMI of 40 or above is morbidly obese; 50 or above, super obese). Her 90 day goal was 100 pounds and she lost 106 pounds. Her six month goal was 60 pounds and she hit the number exactly.
During the year, Staci Bridwell had a total lost of 201 pounds, bringing her weight down to 255 pounds. The diet plan was the Carb Cycle Solution Diet which is used by all participants, and puts an emphasis on healthy foods to lose weight. Her daily exercise routine lasted five hours; four hours of cardio and an hour of weight training. Additionally she trained with the Dallas Fire Department in a memorable scene in the episode.

She said in the final scene, in which she revealed her new found radiance and confidence, that it’s important to put yourself first and put everything else on the back burner. You’re worth every tear, every muscle ache, every drop of sweat. “It was so worth it,” she said.
Chris Powell praised her efforts, saying she was the hardest worker, as well as the largest woman he ever worked with
In a recent interview she talked about her weight loss, which totals 211 pounds to date, and the new-found freedom it has brought her:
“I can buckle my seat belt. I can walk up flights of stairs — not just one. I can walk up many flights of stairs without getting out of breath. I can sit down on the ground and get up and play with my kids. I can run,” she said.
Bridwell said other overweight people can learn from her journey. She said if you want something bad enough, you can achieve it — even if it means losing hundreds of pounds, a task she once dismissed as impossible.
“I put everything I had into this and I came out victorious.”
