Rocco DiSpirito, Now Eat This! Diet Author on Healthy Foods for Weight Loss
Celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito is author of Now Eat This! Diet: Lose Up to 10 Pounds in Just 2 Weeks Eating 6 Meals a Day! which is a followup to his cookbook, Now Eat This! He has also appeared on The Biggest Loser as a guest chef.
In the book he presents a meal plan of 1,200 calories a day for women and 1,400 a day for men. Recipes are transformations of familiar comfort foods, with reduced calories, fat and carb content that fit into the meal plans for the diet. The book steers people away from processed foods and gives them an opportunity to learn to cook healthier versions of familiar foods.
In a recent interview (video above) Rocco DiSpirito talks about how he used Facebook and Twitter to gather recipe ideas and find out what people were looking for in terms of healthy foods to lose weight. Noting that there is spirited discussion about diets and what kind of diets work and which ones don’t he notes that everybody wants to know the real truth. Thus writing the book became a live, real-time conversation via social media with the people who were going to be his readers.
The message he got from people is that they love their comfort foods, such as macaroni and cheese and cheeseburgers and they want healthier versions, but will eat them whether they are healthy or not.
