Gold’s Gym trainer Nikki Kimbrough has created an imaginative and effective lower body workout routine especially for the Halloween season — using pumpkins and a witch’s broom! — to help you get in shape to wear your Halloween costume.
The exercises that she demonstrates in the video above are as follows.
A Sumo pumpkin squat, using a plie motion reminiscent of the stance of a Sumo wrestler. It’s a simple but effective way to work the gluts and quads.
Witch’s broom pyrometric lunge. You perform the lunges with the witch’s broom, using it as a bar. Of course, your ordinary household broom will work as well! It has a double benefit; it is not only a strength training exercise, but you will also get cardiovascular benefits from the exertion.
Side Lunge with Halloween goody bags. Holding the two bags, you perform side lunges. The second phase adds bicep curls for a compound exercise working upper and lower body.
It goes to show that in everyday life we can use common objects for workouts at home, if money is tight, there’s no need to spend money on fitness equipment. And, of course there are plenty of great bodyweight exercise routines that are quite effective for workouts anywhere, at home or on the road.
