Harley Pasternak: Holiday Diet and Exercise Tips (Video)

Check out the videos below and get some holiday diet and exercise tips from celebrity trainer and nutrition expert Harley Pasternak known for his popular 5 Factor Diet and fitness program. He made an appearance on ABC’s The View on the day after Thanksgiving (November 25, 2011) and — in an interview with US Weekly — shared a strategy to avoid overeating at a holiday buffet table.

With the assistance of two of the co-hosts, Whoopie Goldbert and Sherri Shepherd, he demonstrated some simple dishes with 5 steps, 5 ingredients that take no longer than 5 minutes to prepare, using healthy foods that help foster weight loss. Among them a salad to make with left over Thanksgiving turkey, adding two kinds of lettuce, tomato, garbanzo beans, non-fat mozzarella cheese (or a non-dairy equivalent) and a low calorie salad dressing spiced up with freshly ground pepper and powdered mustard. To save calories, he recommens serving the salad dressing in a separate bowl. Other fast five ingredient meals included a black bean quesadilla as well as a dish using corn, brown rice and quinoa.

Next he demonstrated some exercises targeting the lower body and back including lunges, dead-lift and the standing back row.

In a recent interview for US Weekly, Harley Pasternak shared tips for eating at a holiday buffet without overindulging. As he explains in the video below, the key is reaching satiety without overindulging in calories. To do so, he recommends making multiple trips to the table. On the first trip, you start with lower calorie foods high in water such as salads and vegetables. On your next trip, lean proteins. By your third trip — if you need one — you will be much less hungry and able to be satisfied with small amounts of the higher calorie foods such as desserts. time.
