Anna Kournikova The Biggest Loser Trainer: Workout Routine and Interview


Anna Kournikova is the new trainer on Season 12 on The Biggest Loser, the NBC reality TV competition show which had its premiere on Tues. Sept. 20, 2011. She made an appearance on the daytime TV talk show Live with Regis and Kelly (video below) that same day for an interview as well as to demo a workout routine.

She talked about early beginnings as an athlete tennis player, moving from Russia to the U.S.at age 9 to attend the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Florida. She turned pro at age 14. She credits her mother, a track and field athlete, for instilling the discipline and commitment to tennis and fitness in general with a “drill sergeant” approach. She also discussed the injuries she experienced as a tennis player, and how she had to retire from tennis due to a back injury.

She brings her passion for physical fitness and promoting a healthy lifestyle to the program in her new role, replacing trainer Jillian Michaels. She is working with the oldest team on the program.

She demonstrated a workout which can be performed at home. The only equipment required is a ball — soccer ball or basketball will do. The total body workout uses squats, lunges as well as upper body exercises in a fun, inventive way.
