What Is Skinny Bliss? What’s the Scoop?

This site is for anyone who wants to achieve and/or maintain their weight loss and fitness goals. If you want to reach the goal and not settle for less and live with the inner grumblings of dissatisfaction, this site is for you! It’s not about the dress size or the number on the scale, it’s about living life fully with optimum health, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

It starts the day you decide you are going to make changes. No matter whether you want to lose the last 10 pounds or the first 100, or make the right lifestyle changes to maintain your goal weight and preserve your hard won effort, the determination and motivation starts with you! We have the resources here to help.

My Story….

I have had a lifelong interest in fitness, health and weight loss. I started out as a somewhat chubby teenager who first slimmed down and wore skinny jeans — original Levis 501 button fly shrink to fit — just months before graduating from high school. While in college, I went through the typical ups and downs emotionally. This was reflected on the scale as the numbers began to grow bigger, as did I, putting on considerably more than the Freshmen 10.. Thereafter became a cycle of gaining weight at college and crash dieting and losing it all during the summer. Not a healthy way of life!

Throughout my early 20s and 30s I still yo-yo dieted and, as a Manhattan resident, I walked everywhere both to save on subway and bus fare as well as to get some exercise. Although Central Park beckoned, I was simply not a fan of jogging. But I found my exercise of choice some years ago — racewalking — and life began to change. As a member of a well known walking and running club in New York I began to compete both locally and nationally, often winning or placing within the top five of my age group. Around this time I got my certification as a personal fitness trainer. I got leaner than I ever had in my life about 15 years ago, thanks to the Zone Diet. In maintaining my weight, I switched to the McDougall Diet and amazingly got even leaner. With one relapse about two years ago — brought on by unhappy work and life circumstances — I gained weight, but then I went back to the basics, daily strength training and racewalking as well as a strict diet. The weight was gone and I am maintaining it once again.

Goals are Achievable…and that is Bliss!

So yes, I know it is possible and it is well worth the effort! For many reasons — not least of which our health, quality of life and longevity — we must do what we can to keep our weight within the acceptable limits. And in so doing, rather than forever chasing an elusive dream or worse, adapting to that which we do not like and which ultimately will make us less healthy, we feel a measure of achievement. It’s skinny bliss! You know the feeling if you have reached your target goal. But that is just the beginning of the journey!
